Nyos® ION ELEMENTS | The Guide for Full Spectrum of Coral Vitality
While major minerals like Calcium and Alkalinity provide the structure of the reef, trace elements are the drivers of biological health. Nyos® ION ELEMENTS are state-of-the-art mixtures designed to fill the chemical gaps in modern reef systems, providing the rare minerals necessary for enzymatic functions and intense fluorescence.
Seamless Integration with ION-B
The ION ELEMENTS series is specifically engineered to work in tandem with the Nyos® ION-B Base Solutions. By using the ION-B liquids as a "carrier," you automate the delivery of trace elements every time your system doses Calcium or Alkalinity. This ensures a consistent, stable supply of micro-nutrients throughout the day.
The ION ELEMENTS Series
| Product | Mix Directly Into | Target Elements |
| ION ELEMENTS 1 | ION-B CA/MG+ | Molybdenum, Rubidium, Strontium |
| ION ELEMENTS 2 | ION-B CA/MG+ | Chromium, Iron, Cobalt, Copper, Manganese, Nickel, Vanadium, Zinc |
| ION ELEMENTS 3 | ION-B ALK/PH+ | Fluorine, Iodine, Potassium, Selenium |
Dosing & Mixing Instructions
Nyos® ION ELEMENTS utilize a Carrier-Based Dosing method. Rather than dosing these into the aquarium directly, they are added to your ION-B canisters to create an "all-in-one" solution.
-
Target Dosage: Add 20ml of ION ELEMENTS per 1 Liter of Nyos® ION-B base solution.
-
The "Slow Start" Method: To safely acclimate your reef, start with 10ml per Liter. Gradually increase the concentration over 2–4 weeks based on coral response and water testing.
-
Bio-Availability: ION ELEMENTS uses specialized stabilization technology to ensure that "fast-volatile" minerals like Iron remain available for coral uptake rather than precipitating in the dosing container.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to use ION-B to use ION ELEMENTS?
While ION-B is the intended carrier, ION ELEMENTS is designed to be highly compatible with the Nyos® system. Using them together ensures the 1:7 mineral ratio and trace levels remain perfectly synchronized.
Should I add all three ION ELEMENTS to one container?
No. To maintain chemical stability, you must follow the pairing guide: Elements 1 & 2 go into the CA/MG+ canister, and Element 3 goes into the ALK/PH+ canister.
How do I adjust the dose based on my ICP test?
If an ICP test shows you are low in specific trace elements, you can increase the amount of ION ELEMENTS you mix into your next batch of ION-B (up to a maximum of 30ml per liter). If levels are high, simply reduce the amount added to the next batch.
Does mixing them change the dosing volume of ION-B?
No. Because the volumes of ION ELEMENTS are so small relative to the base solution (2%), your primary dosing schedule for Alkalinity and Calcium remains the same.
