High-Purity Carbonate Supplementation

Part of the completely revised ATI® ICP Elements lineup, this high-purity alkalinity solution is designed for the precise adjustment of carbonate hardness in reef aquariums. Developed and tested in the ATI® Lab in Germany, this solution is ideal for compensating acute deficiencies or managing the daily carbonate demand required for a stable and thriving marine ecosystem.

The Critical Importance of Alkalinity

Alkalinity (KH) is perhaps the most vital parameter to monitor in a reef tank, serving as the primary buffer for pH and the essential "fuel" for coral calcification.

  • Coral Survival: Low alkalinity is a primary cause of death in SPS and LPS corals. Deficiencies lead to slowed skeletal formation, dull colors, tissue damage, and high susceptibility to RTN (Rapid Tissue Necrosis) and STN (Slow Tissue Necrosis).

  • pH Stability: Alkalinity provides the buffer needed to prevent dangerous pH fluctuations. A lack of buffer causes extreme stress to fish and invertebrates, increasing their susceptibility to disease.

  • Coralline Algae: High-demand organisms like coralline algae rely heavily on stable KH levels to encrust and grow.

  • Common Causes of Deficiency: High consumption by growing corals, salt mixes with low base KH, or technical failures such as clogged dosing hoses or uncalibrated pumps.

The ATI® ICP Elements Advantage

  • Laboratory Grade: Produced using only the highest grade raw materials, tested for purity by the ATI® Lab in Germany.

  • Transparency: Value-driven with clear cost-to-compare ingredients listed directly on the packaging.

  • User-Friendly: Features color-coded packaging to assist different skill levels (Beginner, Pro, Expert).

  • Certified Safety: Registered and compliant with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and CLP Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 for health and environmental protection.

Dosage & Application

  • Concentration: The bottle contains 10,000°dKH.

  • Standard Dosage: 1 ml per 100 liters (26 gal) increases the alkalinity by 0.1°dKH.

  • Safe Daily Limits: Increase alkalinity by a maximum of 4°dKH (40 ml per 100 liters) per day.

  • Important Note: Crystals may form at low temperatures. If crystals are present, simply heat the bottle to 45°C (115°F) in a warm water bath until they dissolve.
