Uncompromising Pollutant Removal

ATI® Carbon Super Pure is a next-generation, acid-washed activated carbon designed for the high-purity requirements of modern reef aquariums. Featuring a binding capacity up to three times higher than standard aquarium carbons, it effectively removes coral toxins, yellowing organic substances, medication residues, and other growth inhibitors. The result is crystal-clear water and a healthier environment for even the most sensitive corals.

Superior Performance & Purity

Carbon Super Pure stands out through its exceptional physical properties and rigorous manufacturing process:

  • Massive Surface Area (1,050 m²/g): More surface area allows for significantly higher adsorption of contaminants. At over 1,000 m²/g, this carbon offers three times the capacity of many standard alternatives.

  • Exceptional Adsorption: With an Iodine Value of ~1,020 mg/g and a Methylene Blue value of ~130 ml/g, it is highly efficient at capturing both small molecules and larger organic pollutants.

  • Acid-Washed for Purity: The acid-washing process strips away inorganic contaminants, metals, and phosphates, ensuring the carbon does not leach unwanted substances into your reef.

  • Ultra-Low Silicate: While many carbons contain up to 15% ash (a major source of silicate), Carbon Super Pure uses specialized raw materials to achieve an ash content of less than 1%, preventing silicate-driven algae outbreaks.

  • Mechanical Strength: A ball-pan hardness of 97% ensures minimal abrasion and dust, keeping your filtration system clean.

Application & Dosage

Because of its high efficiency, ATI® Carbon Super Pure is extremely economical.

  • Standard Dosage: Use 15–25 grams (30–50 ml) per 100 liters (25 gal) of aquarium water.

  • Preparation: Soak in RO water for 10 minutes prior to use to remove any air and to settle the material.

  • Placement: For best results, use in a media reactor with a gentle flow. The carbon should be slightly suspended but not aggressively tumbled to avoid grinding.

  • Replacement: Replace the media every 4 weeks to maintain optimal water clarity and filtration.
