NYOS® Quantum® Series | High-Performance Protein Skimming Guide
The NYOS® Quantum® series is built for reef keepers who demand quality, aesthetics, and functionality. Every skimmer in the lineup is designed to perform in the harsh conditions of a seawater environment while remaining nearly silent and easy to maintain.
The NYOS® Difference: Four Core Pillars
-
Extreme Performance: Characterized by high skimming performance resulting from the massive amount of air processed and an optimum air-water mixture.
-
Very Smooth Operation: Aquariums should be seen and not heard. The Quantum® is engineered to be especially silent, making it virtually unnoticeable in the cabinet.
-
Low Power Consumption: Conceived to be energy efficient, the Quantum® uses a minimum of power despite its high air-processing performance.
-
Easy to Maintain: Simple settings and a design that is easy to take apart ensure the same level of performance over the long term.
Innovative Engineering & Design
The NYOS® Hybrid Wheel
The heart of the Quantum® is the Hybrid Wheel. This precisely manufactured impeller is built with superlight materials and combines the advantages of a needle wheel and a lattice wheel. Its unique structure ensures the generation of countless, extremely fine micro-air bubbles for maximum protein removal.
NYOS® Clear-View Reactor
The transparent, performance-optimized reaction chamber allows you to see the pump in operation. This large-volume chamber is specially adapted to the hybrid wheel and venturi nozzle to produce an ideal air-water ratio.
The NYOS® Twister
To achieve optimum skimming, bubbles must remain in contact with the water for as long as possible. The saw-blade shaped Twister gives the bubbles an additional spin, swirling them into a vortex to greatly increase contact time within the water column.
Sinus Design: Form Meets Function
Utilizing a flow-optimized "Double-S" form, the Sinus design allows air bubbles to rise without hindrance. This ergonomic shape prevents the formation of poor-flow zones, ensuring a smooth upward path for the skimmate.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes NYOS® Quantum® skimmers so quiet?
The Quantum® is engineered for "Full Decoupling." This means the skimmer body and pump are isolated by integrated silicone feet, which prevent vibration transfer to the aquarium or sump floor.
How do I adjust the skimmate consistency?
The Quantum® features dual adjustment options. You can use the primary water setting pipe for coarse adjustments and the precision micro-adjustment screw for fine-tuning the water level within the skimmer body to achieve "wet" or "dry" foam.
What hardware is used for long-term durability?
Every skimmer uses Titanium Grade 2 screws to prevent rust and corrosion. Additionally, the pumps utilize Zirconium Dioxide shafts, which are nearly unbreakable and provide a smooth, low-maintenance lifespan.
