Why Magnesium (Mg) is Essential
Magnesium is a major element in seawater and is critical for maintaining the chemical balance of your reef. Its primary role is to prevent the abiotic precipitation of calcium and alkalinity.

Chemical Stability: Magnesium allows for high concentrations of calcium and carbonate to coexist in the water. At low magnesium levels, alkalinity and calcium can precipitate, making it difficult to maintain stable parameters.

Skeletal Development: It is essential for the growth of stony corals. Without it, growth slows significantly and coral skeletons can become brittle.

Refugium & Algae: Magnesium is a core component of chlorophyll and is required for the growth of coralline algae.

Coral & Invertebrate Health: Low levels can lead to the degeneration of soft corals and affect the shell development of snails and other mollusks.

Standard Dosage: 1 ml per 100 liters (26 gal) increases the magnesium content by 1 mg/l.
