ATI® ICP Element | Nickel (Ni) 150ml
High-Purity Single Element Supplementation
Part of the completely revised ATI® ICP Elements lineup, this high-purity nickel solution is designed for the precise adjustment of element levels in reef aquariums. Developed and tested in the ATI® Lab in Germany, these solutions are ideal for both compensating acute deficiencies and maintaining daily element supply to ensure a balanced and biologically functional reef environment.
The Role of Nickel (Ni) in Reef Systems
Nickel is a trace element that, while not considered "essential" for coral survival, plays a sophisticated role in the microbial and enzymatic health of a marine ecosystem.
-
Enzymatic Support: Nickel is a key component for specific enzymes, such as urease. It is suspected that adequate nickel levels support the activity of nitrifying and nitrogen-fixing bacteria.
-
Microbial Balance: By supporting bacterial enzyme activity, nickel contributes to the underlying biological processes that maintain water quality and nutrient cycling.
-
Targeted Precision: In a reef aquarium, nickel should ideally only be detectable at very low concentrations. High-purity laboratory solutions allow for the micro-adjustments needed to reach these specific targets without overshooting.
-
Common Status: Low nickel content is the normal state for most reef aquariums; supplementation is generally only required when laboratory testing indicates a total depletion.
